New low global warming potential (GWP) A2L and A3 refrigerants are being used as environmentally friendly alternatives to traditional HVACR refrigerants. These new refrigerants are flammable and therefore require active leak detection.
Our sensor solution for measuring A2L refrigerants can help ensure a safe transition to more climate-friendly refrigerants in the coming years. It combines key characteristics such as durability, fast response time and robustness. The combination of these traits is achieved by measuring the thermal conductivity of gases. We developed a unique gas model that allows for accurate and fast measurement even in the harshest environmental conditions, while still remaining cost effective. Additionally, the purely physical measurement principle of thermal conductivity offers great protection against possible contamination by trace gases.
For A3, we are developing an IEC 60335-2-40 compliant sensor solution for propane (R-290), based on the photoacoustic technology. With high accuracy, low cross-sensitivity and an outstanding tolerance to the harshest environmental conditions, our sensor offers an unparalleled combination of performance and reliability.
