DNA sequencing

Enhanced instrument reliability through precise flow control and machine diagnostics

Various analytical methods are relied upon in DNA sequencing (Sanger, NGS, nanopore, pyrosequencing etc.), which aims to determine the sequence of nucleotides encoding a given gene.

A common point to all these methods is their extensive use of low flows, which require a high level of precision and control. Any instrument inaccuracy in flow delivery can be quite costly to end users in terms of samples and time, as well as to the manufacturers who provide maintenance services.

Flow control and validation

Our microthermal flow technology can measure, with high repeatability, down to nanoliters/min. The volume of the sample and the waste generated can be accurately determined, and the pump’s expected flow can be validated.

Analytical insights into your instruments

Relying on microthermal technology, Sensirion sensors offer a highly repeatable flow measurement down to nanoliters per minute and have been used in a variety of analytical laboratory instruments for applications such as liquid handling and pump feedback control.

However, our sensors can do more. On top of flow monitoring, their high sensitivity and fast reaction time enable insights into the instrument’s health and condition by detecting valve ringing, backflow, mechanical wear and bubbles.
