Our apprentices and our vocational trainer met in the morning at Fischmarktplatz in Rapperswil, St. Gallen, where they were greeted by bright sunshine and our city guide Astrid.
Together, we went on an interesting tour of the old town. Astrid guided us through the historic alleys and told us with great enthusiasm about the history of the city of Rapperswil and its merger with Jona. A special highlight awaited us at Rapperswil Castle: there, we encountered members of the Federal Council who happened to be on their traditional annual outing. Some of our apprentices took the opportunity for a souvenir photo – an unforgettable moment!
Afterwards, Astrid showed us the city’s underground bunkers, which offered an impressive glimpse into the past. The 90-minute guided tour went by in a flash.
Before lunch, some apprentices took advantage of the opportunity to cool off in the lake, while others visited the castle again, where the Federal Council was still onsite. At noon, we took the bus to the Bächlihof in Jona, where we recharged our batteries over a leisurely lunch.
In the afternoon, the sporting activities continued: four teams competed against each other in bubble soccer at the nearby Grünfeld stadium. It was great fun – not least because even a short shower of rain didn’t stop us playing. Quite the opposite: a little water made the whole thing even more fun!
The excursion not only created many happy memories but also strengthened the team spirit among our apprentices. We are already looking forward to our next activity together!
